Gaza - Ma'an - The Israeli forces would face many surprises if they even think of invading the Gaza Strip, the spokesman for the Al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, told Ma'an in an exclusive interview on Thursday.
Abu Obeideh told Ma'an that "the Brigades have prepared themselves to confront the enemy; that’s why they have developed their resistance methods and military abilities''.
The spokesman warned, "the Israeli forces [will] find themselves implicated in the middle of a trap a few meters after they enter the lands of the Strip… if they dare to invade all the Gaza Strip; any invasion will not be an easy ride for the Israelis, this will be a disaster for them and they will not be able to leave the Strip unless they pay an expensive price."
The spokesman stressed that the group is not part of disorder prevailing in the Strip saying, "the Al Qassam members are innocent and have no relation of any kind with the crimes in the Strip, especially the killing of General At-Tayih and his companions".
Abu Obeideh added, "The Brigades are part of the Hamas movement from an organizational point of view but we also part of the Palestinian people and we are suffering from the siege imposed on the Palestinians and their government ". He added, "We support the government and are ready to support it in anything we are asked for".
The spokesman also said, "We don’t think the government will ask us to stop launching projectiles in the shadow of the Israeli aggressions". He added, "We were committed to the truce announced last year and then we announced that we are not part of that truce; sometimes we stop the launching in order to evaluate what we are doing. This might take months but remember that we carried out the operation of the capture of the Israeli soldier after months of calm so when we stand still we do plan new operations".
